TL; DR
A/B testing is something that all businesses can do, regardless of the product they’re selling, the service they’re offering, or the budget they have.
It’s a process that Gajan Retnasaba has mastered, and he was more than happy to describe his process.
If you’re new to A/B testing and want a quick summary, take a look below. If you want to see a more detailed approach, including the exact strategies used by Retnasaba and the reasons they are so effective, scroll down to see the embedded video or extensive guide.
What Is Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)?
Imagine that you have two homepages for your website. Everything is the same, except one site uses a blue and black color scheme and the other opts for a blue and green one.
To use A/B testing, you may decide to advertise each of those homepages to 10,000 users. If you discover that the blue and black page attracts more conversions and has a lower bounce rate, you can then remove the failed blue and green option, create a new color scheme, and then compare that to the blue and black one instead.
It’s a “winner stays on” method and it can be used for all aspects of your site. It also works for service pages, landing pages, and apps.
Is Conversion Rate Optimization Expensive?
It sounds expensive to attract 10,000 people to one page and 10,000 to another. But it doesn’t need to be. If you’re on a limited budget and can’t afford to pay for additional search traffic, just switch the geo settings or timing settings so that you show these variations to different people.
As long as you’re recording their reactions and giving equal weight to both of your pages, A/B testing will work.
What Is The Uncertainty Principle?
The Uncertainty Principle is the idea that every customer has a series of questions that need to be answered before they will buy your product or service.
These questions may be as simple as, “Is this within my price range” and “does this do what I need it to do?” or as specific as “is this okay for gluten-free and vegan diets?”. Your goal, as a business owner, is to remove all of that uncertainty. Once you do, those window shoppers will turn into committed customers.
Social Proof
Your customers need social proof. They need to see other people using and enjoying your product, and this is something that A/B testing can help you with. It’s about testing which methods work and then tweaking them so that they are more effective.
If you’re struggling to get reviews for your business, we’ll help you out and show you how to acquire reviews from Amazon, Instagram, and elsewhere.
