TL; DR
The biggest businesses are built on the best ideas, and every road to success begins with an initial ideation phase.
It can be one of the most exciting parts of the journey, but if you’re not particularly creative or well equipped, it can get very frustrating very quickly.
Bryan Mattimore is here to help, though. The ideation specialist has helped to create countless new products for some of the biggest brands in the United States, and he understands what it takes to create a memorable and profitable idea.
If you’re struggling with a business idea or a product idea, this is the guide for you.
You can learn everything you need to know in the guide and accompanying video below, but here’s a quick summary to give you a taster.
- Create a Big Idea in 21 Days: Mattimore’s process revolves around finding a big idea in just 21 days. The goal is to have at least one idea every day for 21 days. Get creative. Research into industries that interest you and companies that inspire you; look for products that catch your eye and creators that make you stand up and take notice. It’s not hard to create an idea every day, and if you do that for three weeks, you’ll have at least 21 of them. By that point, not only will you be more adept at creating ideas, but you should also have the big idea you’ve been waiting for.
- How to Create: Mattimore says that most great ideas can be broken down into several concepts. There are those who aim to solve a common problem, those that adapt an existing technology, and those who help people to achieve their goals. You can also help people to save money and time. If you start with these basic concepts and inject some creative thought and a lot of patience, you’ll create some great ideas.
- Test, Test, Test: Once you have your ideas, it’s time to start testing them. Get your friends and family members involved. Ask for honest feedback and take everything that they say on board. Don’t react aggressively or dismissively to criticism; listen to what they have to say and change your ideas accordingly. If everyone is telling you that your idea is nonsense, it probably is. After all, those friends and family members represent your consumers.
- Research New Products: Mattimore’s methods are not just for new businesses. You can use them to launch products for established brands, as well. Once you have those ideas and products, it’s time to start testing them. Organize focus groups, give them to existing customers, and get as much feedback as you can.

It’s the veritable cherry on top of the cake and it’s not to be missed!
Ideas are the foundation of fortune, the things on which big companies and great achievements are based.
I’ve spoken a lot about e-commerce and digital marketing here on This Week With Sabir.
In the episode with Aron Levin, we looked at how to succeed with influencer marketing. With Dave Moran, it was all about growth hacking for e-commerce.
But you can’t build a roof without walls, you can’t build the frame without the foundation, and by the same token, e-commerce tips and marketing ideas are useless if you don’t have a good idea.
The first step, therefore, is to put your thinking cap on and come up with a great idea. It doesn’t have to be unique; it doesn’t have to be ground-breaking, but it does need to be good.
To help you with this process, I recently connected with Bryan Mattimore, an ideation expert and a bestselling author. Bryan has helped to create billions of dollars in value throughout his career and has worked with some of the biggest companies in the United States.
He is perfectly placed to help business owners and entrepreneurs with the ideation process and was more than happy to share some insights and advice.
You can watch the full interview above. In this guide, I will be elaborating and expanding on some of the points we discussed.
